Congratulations to all the participants in our recent SudoCube 2024! This is the first ever Sudoku x Rubik’s cube event for 6-12 years old! Bringing together young minds and puzzle enthusiasts from across the Little Red Dot was a day brimming with brain teasers, friendly competitions, and amazing achievements.
The Thrill of SudoCube 2024
Waterway Point pulsed with anticipation on June 9th as SudoCube 2024 got underway! Young minds, from wide-eyed beginners to seasoned puzzle masters, went head-to-head in individual Sudoku and Rubik’s Cube challenges.
The air crackled with nervous energy as pencils danced across grids and fingers flew over cubes. Meanwhile, parents and spectators watched with a mixture of anticipation and pride etched on their faces, silently cheering on their focused competitors.
A Challenge for All Ages
The SudoCube finals saw 16 participants face off in three increasingly difficult rounds. The top 7 then battled it out in a heart-stopping second round, before the final 4 dueled for ultimate glory!
The competition featured age-appropriate puzzles for both Sudoku (Under 8 and Over 8 categories) and Rubik’s Cube (“Best of 3” format). Speed was key, but accuracy mattered too—mistakes incurred time penalties.

The day saw incredible performances. A special shoutout to our youngest participant, a brilliant 6-year-old who completed the Rubik’s Cube in a jaw-dropping 11 seconds!

Mason Zhou and Raegan Tung were also the top performers in the Rubik’s Cube and Sudoku rounds, respectively.

More Than Just Competition
The SudoCube 2024 wasn’t just for competitors! Throughout the event week, parents and visitors of all ages had a go at the Mini Sudoku Cups, adding a fun twist and letting everyone test their puzzle-solving skills. Our walk-in champion, 14-year-old Harini, cracked the sudoku in a swift 38 seconds, bagging a $100 NTUC voucher.
As Mr. Roy Huang, the Guest of Honor from Spark Education, highlighted in his opening remarks, “Spark means enlightening others.” SudoCube 2024 truly embodied this spirit—giving young minds a chance to find the joy of problem-solving and challenge themselves in a fun and meaningful way.
