Spark Math takes home the coveted gold medal award from How to Learn‘s Parent & Teacher Choice Award! The award, as one of the most recognized and valued international awards by parents, teachers, and schools, attests to our unique, integrated learning system. We’re proud that our dedication to providing innovative math education solutions has caught the attention of both educators and caregivers for being one of 2023’s most effective math learning programs.

The Heart of a Teacher

Where many online math programs utilize gamification (or play to learn methods), they often lack the human element. At Spark Math, we understand that AI can only get you so far, nothing replaces the heart and personalization of a teacher. That’s why all of our classes are facilitated by real-time, experienced teachers, not robots or tutors. While this put us at the head of the class for the Parent and Teacher Choice award, it wasn’t the sole factor.

The CPA Approach

Spark Math has been set apart for our utilization of the Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach to teaching. The method, which recognizes that math can be difficult because it is abstract, enables learning by introducing abstract math concepts in a concrete and tangible way. It takes all learning types, visual, auditory and tactile, and puts them together in equal measure, giving multiple touch-points to the same problem. This allows all learners to find their place in the math universe and gives them the power to learn the way that they learn best, not through rote memorization or single solving methods.

Concrete – using physical objects to represent math problems.

Pictorial – representing math problems in a drawing.

Abstract – solving math problems using only numbers and symbols.

When a child is able to visualize a problem outside of numbers, it becomes easier to solve.

The Sound of Math Learning

At Spark Math we never settle for good enough. Our team of experienced educators, designers & developers understand the power of music and storytelling. That’s why our program weaves in an exciting story-based math journey like none-other. Our adorable characters, Abby, Benny and Casey, will guide your child on beautifully animated adventures that help them continue to solidify and recall math practices that they have learned. Not to mention the music and math songs that studies have shown to create and connect new learning neuro-pathways.

We are so honored to have received recognition from How To Learn and from the parents and teachers who nominated us for this award. If you’re curious to see how Spark Math’s unique methods could improve your child’s math learning journey, be sure to sign up for our free trial class to see for yourself.
