Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! At Spark Math by Spark Education, we love our incredible teachers and the passion they bring to math and their students. These incredible, highly-qualified individuals not only impart math knowledge, but also help foster curiosity and develop a learning mindset. Let’s take a look at what makes our Spark Math teachers so amazing.
1. Spark Math Teachers Love and Specialize in Math
Not every teacher has a special love and skillset devoted to math, especially at the elementary level. Most teachers are tasked with instructing on all the subjects including math. Spark Math teachers are all math specialists. Beyond that, they just plain love math. We believe (and research supports that) our students will excel when they are enjoying their studies. This applies to teachers too. When they get excited about math, they transfer that positive energy to their students and upgrade the entire experience.
Teacher Shoutout!
Brittni Alvarado is a STEM enthusiast with a Master’s Degree in Education. Her experience spans from teaching children as young as pre-k all the way to 6th grade. Brittni is a champion of critical thinking and makes sure her students use logic and reasoning when conquering new math concepts.
2. Spark Math has Teachers, not Tutors
This is not a knock on tutors, they play an important role in education. However, Spark Math teachers are required to be highly qualified with meaningful classroom experience. Our educators are expert teachers specially trained in using our proprietary technology platform to manage and guide pod-sized classrooms (no more than six students) to enhance learning, improve participation, engagement, and help young minds discover a lifelong love for learning. Spark Math takes education seriously and all of our experienced teachers feel the same.
Teacher Shoutout!
Alex Vang is one of Spark Math’s top teachers. Alex holds a Master’s Degree and later became a teacher to share his love of math and physics with the next generation. One of his specialties in class is helping students transfer what they’ve learned in Spark Math to their daily lives.
3. Spark Math Teachers are Handpicked
Spark Math’s teacher selection involves a rigorous vetting and interviewing process. Being a teacher alone is not enough. We make sure all of our teachers have experience working with students and math. Another important focus is the right attitude. We looks for teachers that have a fun and supportive attitude and teaching method, so students stay engaged and confident. When a student enrolls in Spark Math, they can expect a real teacher who is ready to help them take their math skills to the next level.
